Harwinton Library Card Catalog -- In addition to seeing what books, videos, audios, etc. the library owns, and whether they are  available,  you may also see what is checked out to you.  Go to the My Info link and use your last name for a password and your library card number. You will now be able to view your account.

To download and listen to an eAudiobook, you will first need to come to the Library to create a free NetLibrary account.   Once you've created an account, you can log into your library's collection from any computer with internet access--home, school or work--24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Basic Search lets you quickly find eAudiobook titles available from the Harwinton Public Library.

Statewide Card Catalog (reQuest) -- Interlibrary Loan for Harwinton residents only. 

To request an item not found at the Harwinton Library, please follow these instructions. 

1. Go to the Interlibrary Loan link above.   Search for the material you wish to request.  When you have identified the item, click on it.  If more than one possibility shows up, click on the specific item in the list you want.

2. Click onto the green box labeled "Request this item" on right side of screen.

3. Fill in the form.  Fields identified by red color must be filled in. If your  All other fields are optional.  (NOTE: Your password can be something as simple as your initials.  It should be something you will remember, and the same password should be used for all your requests.  The password allows you to track your requests.  In order to do this, you must remember the exact way you enter your name & password.  If you can't remember, the system has no way of providing it to you.  It will not change the outcome of your request, but  you won't be able to track the progress on your own.)

4. Click on to the  "Submit." link on menu at top.  Most interlibrary loans take 2 weeks to process.  We will contact you by phone or email  when your book arrives.

General Information and Guidelines

The interlibrary loan process is used to acquire books from other libraries that are not available locally.  We will attempt to obtain material for any Harwinton resident with a valid Harwinton Public Library card.  The interlibrary loan services are for the most part free.  Costs are incurred if the lending library charges for materials.  This is sometimes the case if requested materials are photocopies, but a few other situations may involve cost to the patron.

1.It may not be possible to obtain new materials and bestsellers.  Other libraries hold these items for their own patrons' use first.  Usually an item is no longer considered "New" after about six months but this may vary from library to library.

2.  Please do not request items that the Harwinton Public Library already owns.  Exceptions are items that are long overdue and considered lost.  The staff will make this determination.

3.  Loan periods vary according to the lending library.  Occasionally interlibrary loans can be renewed, but the Harwinton Public Library needs to determine this in conjunction with the lending library.

4.  We request that patrons limit their requests to no more than 5 items.
