HARWINTON LIBRARY FRIENDS Updated Feb. 24, 2010 |
Who Are the Friends?
The Harwinton Library Friends is a service organization comprised of local area residents whose purpose is to stimulate increased awareness and use of the Library, give financial support and assist the Library staff. What Do the Friends Do? The Friends' main purpose is to plan programs that utilize library and community resources and to raise funds for special projects and equipment for the library. Our principal fund raising efforts are the annual Book, Plant and Bake Sale (held the third weekend in May) and the Open House/Holiday Craft Sale (held the first Saturday in December through December 23rd). We also sell cookbooks, book bags, pens, note cards and used books throughout the year. The Friends also provide the means to purchase discount passes to area museums and attractions. A brochure explaining the discount pass program is available at the front desk.
