JobNow! seven days a week and connect for a one-to-one session with a
carefully-selected and fully-qualified job coach. Spanish-speaking coaches
are available during the same hours. Patrons of all ages can

find links to help pass the GED, prepare for the US Citizenship Test,

The
PrepMe preparation
course offers 40+ hours of instructional content, practice quizzes, and full
length tests. PrepMe's online system will automatically identify your strengths
and weaknesses and create a customized week-by-week schedule for you to help you
raise your score. To access the course, you will need the barcode from
the back of your Harwinton Public Library card. Once you have entered your
barcode, you will then be directed to a customized PrepMe login page where you
can create your free account.
PrepMe is a premium online test preparation company
founded by graduates of top schools such as Caltech, the University of Chicago,
and Stanford. PrepMe has been featured on the front cover of Fortune Small
Business, CNN/Money, BusinessWeek and is the test preparation of choice for many
schools and districts around the country including the entire state of Maine.

To download and listen to an eAudiobook, you will first need to come to the
Library to create a free NetLibrary account.
Once you've created an account, you can log into your library's collection from
any computer with internet access--home, school, or work. “Basic Search” lets
you quickly find eAudiobook titles available from our homepage.
For those of you with ipods, click on the “Advanced Search” from the NetLibrary
homepage, then scroll down to “Format” and choose “eAudiobooks.” From there,
select MP3 and click on “Search” to bring up a list of ipod compatible titles.
Microsoft users now have the option to download and install the NetLibrary Media Center. This will enable you to download an eAudiobook and transfer it to your device in one click. To access the Media Center, just click on “Learn More” at the bottom of the NetLibrary screen. Please note: downloading the Media Center may take up to 45 minutes – practice patience, as you will only have to download the software once!

updated/revised by the Office of Electronic Information and Publications of the

Harwinton History
-- Roger
Plaskett is the town's third Official Historian. Roger was appointed on June
20th, 2006 after the passing of Lloyd Shanley, Jr. who served in this capacity for
many years. Lloyd was preceded by Raymond Bentley who also served as Historian
for many years. This web site is created and maintained by Roger Plaskett and is
proudly dedicated to the memory of Raymond Bentley and Lloyd T. Shanley Jr., who
have paved the road to the past, by working so hard to preserve that road for
the future. All Harwintonians and
anyone interested in local history will enjoy browsing this site.

Ask for Kids - Similar to the adult version of Ask.com. Lets you search using plain English. Database is not very large, but it tries to enhance visitors' chances of a successful search by providing matches from meta-search partners.

OneKey -- This "kid safe search engine" filters out sites that do not meet U.S. Network TV Standards for decency. More than 500 categories provide hours of safe surfing.
Yahooligans! -- Yahoo! for the younger set. Children can also access or conduct keyword searches in a wide range of reference tools. Parents and teachers will appreciate the site's guides on family surfing and teaching Internet literacy, along with sample lesson plans.
